ABOUT THE PIECE
// Produced from the theatre of Bonn
// Premiere: 4. Mai 2002, Alter Malersaal, (Gelände Beuel)
In its work for the Ensemble des Choreographischen Theaters COCOONDANCE has created a poetic space that can be associated with the second circle of Dantes Inferno´. It is an account, "From the Life of a Marionette", in which relationships are enumerated like transparent test tubes with various substances, mixtures and combinations, but which react in the same way. The two lovers´ most passionate struggle for closeness, against centrifugal force, confirms the stories of anticipation and loneliness, futility and failure.

PRESS REVIEWS
"One needs only a half an hour … for a magically poetic debate on love and indifference, attraction and repulsion. Giovanola plays with fate, first with slow, weightless movements, as if under water, then with almost acrobatic contortions. No happy ending for the audience, but the choreography is full of incredible elegance and expressiveness." (General-Anzeiger, Bonn)
"Rafaële Giovanola´s character is one of prisoners of their own longing. Like on a tightrope they can neither part from each other nor approach one another. The idea is fitting. It refers to the degree of freedom one has. Like an exercise in weightlessness, one can escape neither the heaviness nor the attachment." (Bonner Rundschau)
"... a piece about the impossibility of long-lasting relationships. Repeatedly Giovanola finds expressive, even explosive moments." (Kölner Stadtanzeiger)
